Innovation Park (Highway 42 property)
Anderson and Associates (now Hurt and Proffitt) conducted the initial assessment of the 170 +acres now owned by Alleghany County off of Highway 42 near the interchange of I-64. The initial assessment was conducted and presented in 2001. In 2018, the County held a Public Hearing to seek input regarding a potential M-1 rezone and, at the time, determined a residential with a possible mixed commercial usage may be the best use for the acreage. This development concept aligns with the current housing needs in Alleghany County. Hurt and Proffitt and Alleghany County are currently working on a development site plan for workforce and affordable housing needs. We have our term contract firms currently submitting proposal for a PER to assess water and wastewater needs for this site.
