Spotlight on Peoples Bank!

We sat down with Afton Griffin, Covington Branch Manager, where she shared more about herself, the Bank’s vision and how it gives back to our region, what she’s most excited about for the future of the Alleghany Highlands and more.

“I began my banking career in 2008 as a temporary teller, never expecting it to grow into a long-term profession. Over the years, I worked my way through multiple roles and became Branch Manager around 2018, gaining a deep appreciation for relationship driven banking. When our local bank joined Peoples Bank through an acquisition in 2021, it felt like a natural fit. Peoples Bank’s strong community focus and commitment to people, both customers and employees, aligns closely with my own leadership values.

I was born and raised in the Alleghany Highlands, and this community will always be home to me. Supporting local businesses and being involved in organizations like Olde Town Covington, Inc. isn’t just something I do professionally, it’s personal. These are the people, places, and streets that shaped who I am. Being engaged in the community means giving back to the place that gave me so much. Through involvement with Olde Town Covington, Inc. and other local organizations, I’m able to support economic growth, strengthen downtown, and help ensure the Alleghany Highlands continues to thrive for future generations.

As Branch Manager, I believe leadership is about supporting your team, building trust, and being present in the community. I’m proud to lead a branch that values relationships, service and helping the Alleghany Highlands thrive. Peoples Bank’s vision is to be the Best Community Bank in America, focusing on exceptional customer service, local community impact, growth and empowering employees to make local decisions, while providing comprehensive banking, trust and investment services across the footprint.
